Welcome to this on air with Ella Minisode, a little bite sized boost to your day.
Speaker A:Always quick, always thought provoking, and always under 10 minutes.
Speaker A:Let's go.
Speaker A:I want to talk to real women about what to do.
Speaker A:Why is it hard?
Speaker A:Why do we, how do we make it harder?
Speaker A:What should we be doing instead?
Speaker A:Like, you work with a lot of real women now.
Speaker A:You look like you were cut from some sort of mold.
Speaker A:Like, if I put you in eight potato sacks, I would be able to tell that there was a physique under there.
Speaker A:Like, you clearly have been a lifelong athlete.
Speaker A:And I think that's so cool.
Speaker A:That's not everybody.
Speaker A:And I want to talk to everybody today.
Speaker A:Haley and I want to talk about keeping this real.
Speaker A:How to make habits, how to get out of our own way.
Speaker A:Okay, tell me this.
Speaker A:First of all, what do you hear most?
Speaker A:What is standing in the way of women over 35, 40, you know, in, in midlife?
Speaker A:What a stand standing in the way of us getting where we need to be with our health and fitness goals.
Speaker B:I want to preface this and I want to say it so that women can get the message because I've worked with every kind of female.
Speaker B:I've worked with everyone, every demographic, a lot of countries, you know, very famous people to whatever stay at home, moms that live in a tiny, you know, farm town in usa.
Speaker B:It doesn't matter who the female is.
Speaker B:It is the same.
Speaker B:And that is the lesson that I've learned this year.
Speaker B:It is the same issues that stand in the way.
Speaker B:Whether you have a lot of help or resources or whether you don't.
Speaker B:And it usually comes down to prioritizing something for ourselves.
Speaker B:That is the biggest piece because you can have, you know, it.
Speaker B:It's either someone that has five kids and their husband is, you know, they're a single mom or their husband travels all the time or a se CEO that, you know is like, well, I don't have time.
Speaker B:I don't even have time to go to the dentist, let alone.
Speaker B:And I tried to have these conversations very lovingly.
Speaker B:Have a female sit down and be like, listen.
Speaker B:We're all like, no one's life is getting.
Speaker B:I don't know anyone that's just cold kicking it with nothing to do, you know, for like all day long.
Speaker B:I mean, I don't know anyone.
Speaker B:But if we look at this, I want you to, like, close your eyes and I want you to picture yourself in 20 years, in 10 years, in 30 years, and the person that, what you're doing now and it doesn't have to be elaborate.
Speaker B:It doesn't have to be, you know, all of these crazy rules.
Speaker B:What you're doing now is going to determine how the rest of your, like, the last few decades of your life will be.
Speaker B:And I don't know anyone that's like, I'm super cool being in a nursing home and having my kids have to do everything for me.
Speaker B:Like, that's a good way to go out.
Speaker B:Nobody does.
Speaker B:And so what we, we have, whether it's, you know, goals, resolutions, making it harder on ourself by this guilt of, like, perfection, or if I can't do it all, then I'm not going to do it at all.
Speaker B:Give yourself 10 minutes a day, 15 minutes a day.
Speaker B:I mean, I have a client that's like, write me 15 minute workouts.
Speaker B:And I'm like, I think you could YouTube this.
Speaker B:And.
Speaker B:But the point is, is like, it has to start just like brushing your teeth every single day.
Speaker B:It's like non negotiable.
Speaker B:And that time, everyone on your team or in your family or, you know, in your world knows this is non negotiable.
Speaker B:This is Ella 2.0 time.
Speaker B:So I'm always like, you know, the 2.0 version of yourself is now making time for you, whatever that is.
Speaker B:It doesn't have to be every day, but you have to prioritize something.
Speaker A:Hailey.
Speaker A:To me, the secret is so boring.
Speaker A:The secret is to start where you are and be as consistent as you can.
Speaker A:So no matter how small that may be, consistency is so much more important than these big sexy headlines.
Speaker A:Give me your take on that based on your experience.
Speaker B:Okay, so I've never stuck with a resolution in my entire life.
Speaker A:Maybe we're biased.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Ever, Ever.
Speaker B:And I have, I've had people on my podcast and I'm, I'm gonna do it.
Speaker B:I'm gonna set the intention and I'm gonna do this new thing.
Speaker B:And then I'm like, yeah, who am I kidding?
Speaker B:It's not gonna happen.
Speaker A:Yeah, it'll look still me.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:I mean, and you're right, it's not like if we take away quick fixes, flashy, sexy, doing this and then that and then this.
Speaker B:Focus on one thing, one thing.
Speaker B:And just be like, I'm going to drink more water in the morning.
Speaker B:That's all I'm gonna do.
Speaker B:Or I'm going to decide that again.
Speaker B:Like, I'm gonna block out my calendar.
Speaker B:We all have an A phone with our calendar on there.
Speaker B:Block out whatever it is.
Speaker B:10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and I'm just going to devote that to me and I have to believe that I'm worth it.
Speaker B:And I have to stop using the excuse of.
Speaker B:Because we're all guilty of this.
Speaker B:But, you know, I just have to get through this next business launch or I just have to wait until my kid gets.
Speaker B:Yeah, like until my kid gets in full time school or when I get this teenager out of the house.
Speaker B:Because we all have that.
Speaker B:But I mean, I'm here to tell you I have a 20 year old, 18 year old and a 14 year old.
Speaker B:And I kept saying, well, as soon as one of them gets off to college, my life is going to be, you know, it's going to mellow out.
Speaker B:Oh, as soon as the second one gets up, well, now both of them are off.
Speaker B:And I'm like, well, yeah, I have a little bit more.
Speaker B:I'm not driving places as much.
Speaker B:But like, we all will fill up our day with different things that are important to us.
Speaker B:Some that we need to do, like work, but that are important to us.
Speaker B:Why aren't we at the top of that pillar of being important?
Speaker B:Because we've kind of been taught and raised, you know, I, I was raised in a very Christian household where you, you give everything that you have to other people and you serve and you serve and you serve and you serve and that's all great, but not at the expense of ourselves.
Speaker B:Because then when we start to have things break down, which they will in our 50s, 60s, 70s, whatever, that decade is where you start breaking down, you're gonna wish that you would have prepared a little or put yourself first for that little bit.
Speaker B:Because we can't, we can't go back.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker A:I always say if you can't put yourself first for you, then do it for everybody else.
Speaker A:Yeah, they need you and they need you in fine form.
Speaker A:So if you are not willing to do that for yourself, then do it for the people who depend on you and the people that you love and who love you back.
Speaker A:Thanks for joining me for this mini episode of On Air with Ella.
Speaker A:Tune in for our full episodes once a.
Speaker A:See you next time.
