Speaker A:

Hey, it's Ella. This is not a podcast. This is something completely new.

I'm dropping it in the feed just so you guys are aware, but I won't be doing this again in the feed. Let me tell you what this is. This is my new audio newsletter, and it is designed for your ears, not your inbox.

And let me tell you why I do not love email. I am supposed to, as a good podcast host and as a woman who wants to help you every day in every way.

I'm supposed to be emailing you, like, once a week. I detest that idea. Like, I don't love email. I have too many emails.

I am one of those people that will subscribe to something and then unsubscribe within 30 seconds or the first two emails. I don't want to be that person for you, but I do want to talk to you.

I want to talk to you between episodes, and I want to tell you things that just will never make it to the air. But I only want to tell my people. So I'm breaking the rules. I don't care about the email rules. I don't care what I'm supposed to be doing.

Going to talk to you instead. I am officially launching my audio newsletter. And if you're hearing this, that means one of two things.

It means you're either officially an insider and you're subscribed to my email list, or because this is the first one, you're just hearing it in the podcast feed. Because I'm dropping the very first one there one time only, so everybody knows what they're missing. Just kidding.

So everybody knows what the heck I'm doing. So from here on out, this exclusive audio newsletter is for email subscribers only. And I will tell you how to become an email subscriber.

There'll be a link in this because every time I release one of these, get this, here's the deep, deep irony. I have to email it to you. So, yeah, I'm still emailing it to you, but it's audio. Okay.

And just for fun, this will give you, like, a little taste of the absurdity and the nonsense that you can expect. By the way, all of them will be short. Okay, I promise not to keep you here for a long time, but I need to tell you something. I opened up ChatGPT.

Actually, perplexity. AI, if you want to know the truth, I opened up AI and I was like, help me categorize my thoughts.

I want to tell my podcast fam that I don't love email, that I'm going to create an audio newsletter. But they have to be on my email list to get it. Or they just will never get it because it's like insider stuff.

It's not stuff I'm going to blast out to the world. It's like, help me categorize my thoughts. Okay, so this is what AI said. For me to tell you, I need to get it together. Okay?

Hey, girlfriend, get ready for a dose of pure, unadulterated, estrogen fueled fabulousness. Because let's be honest, who has time for another email? Not this girl. I'm serving up something even better. The sisterhood sound bite.

My new audio newsletter. Your VIP pass to all the juicy secrets, hilarious stories, and empowering wisdom that only us girls can truly appreciate. Guess what?

It's exclusively for my email subscribers. My soul sisters. This is so not okay. I'm going to skip to the end. Okay, okay, okay. Okay. So. So if you wanna. That's spelled W A N N A.

If you wanna join our glitter bombed inner circle, make sure you're on the list. Let's do this, ladies. Okay, so if you're worried about AI taking over your job, you're safe. Okay?

I promise to keep this one short so I'll actually get down to business. Let me tell you what I wanted a space where I can tell you things that happen between episodes. Like, like about those episodes.

I can't get on the air after I interview someone and be like, okay, that was right. Like, I can't do that.

I want to have a place where I can just share some of my behind the scenes thoughts with you and give you something to respond to. Right.

Especially if it, like, if any of the episodes particularly strike a chord with you or if they don't sit well with you, I want to know that too. I also will share one listener question that isn't. Isn't something I'd build an episode around for a multitude of reasons.

So I'll share one listener question each time too. And then I'll always share any updates. But this time I just wanted to share a little bit of a life update.

And before I go any further, want to say, these are not podcasts. These are not formally produced. I might be recording from the car sometimes and this is like me just chatting with you.

So let me chat with you for just a minute. I need to tell you, my son, who's in his early 20s, he just had a complete full hip replacement. And so we were, we were a little underwater here.

It's been kind of interesting as a mom to be taking care, like, to be fully mommy again and to be taking care of him, you know, he did. He. I asked him if I could share this. He needed help with everything, like, everything. And that was super interesting.

As a mom, like, I didn't hate that, like, being able to take care of him. I'm not one of those moms that wants to, like, keep him, you know, next to my side so that he never grows up. That's not me, like, almost to a fault.

So I think that's why I actually thought that element of it was a gift. But something else that just occurred to me in that experience, because he had. He's had a degenerative condition since he was an adolescent.

Well, since he was 10. So he's basically. His femur head has been degrading and degrading and disappearing since he was 10. And he's had several operations.

He spent some time in a wheelchair and a few other things. And he's such a trooper. Man, is he a trooper.

And I, I don't even know if I've ever even mentioned this on the air before, partially because, you know, it's his story. It's his story to tell. But again, I did get his permission to just share with you some of my insights and share with you that this had happened.

And, you know, he's. He's learning how to walk properly for the first time in his life.

And when you first get home after a hip replacement May, you've had a loved one who's had that operation. You know, you can't walk, you need a walker. You can't really.

You need a special toilet, you need a shower chair, you need assistance with a great many things. And then it slowly gets better. And he's walking around with a cane now. And it's so funny because he has old man vibes anyway.

And he has like, this trench coat he wears. The kid is 24, he has a trench coat and a cane, and he walks through the neighborhood saying wise things to the neighbors. It's great.

But he's getting better and better, but now he has to relearn how to walk. He's. He. He hasn't walked normally, so to speak, with two functioning hips. So his muscle memory is not there for healthy walking.

And so he's learning now how to create new muscle memory. And it's just there are so many things I want to tell you about that, but namely, I want to tell you that first of all, muscle memory is real.

So if you've ever, ever been fit in Your life. Get back in there, girl. Because your muscles will be like, yes, I remember this. But more importantly, just my opportunity to share with you.

That movement is such a privilege, right? And we're not all in perfect condition all the time. Sometimes we're injured, sometimes we hurt, sometimes we're struggling.

But just the very fact that you have the option to move in whatever way is accessible to you is such a privilege.

And just seeing him go through this just reminds me not to take a single damn day for granted and to treat my body with the reverence that it deserves. And it's just very humbling. It's just very humbling to see him come through that. And then some days, I have days where I'm like, I don't wanna.

And you know, if you can, then do. Is kind of the message I wanted to leave you with. Not every day. We're not. We're not here for every day.

We're here for doing the very best we can every day that we have. But we're not here for being perfect every day. That's not my message.

My message is, your body is amazing, beautiful, wonderful, and it is there in service to you. Give it some time, give it some love, give it some nourishment. Okay, that's my life update. Oh, one more really important life date.

Life update, and that is that I have been using Estriol face cream. Yeah, we're pivoting. Okay. It's prescription only. It's face cream with estrogen in it. The form of estrogen is estriol.

I've mentioned that on the air before. I can only use this thing like two times a week, maybe three times a week. And my face is peeling.

And every time I see my face peeling, I'm like, that's gotta be good, right? Like the gross stuff is peeling and the baby skin is underneath.

But also, like, we can't be walking through our day peeling like a monster face right now. And so two things. One is, have you used any estrogen based face cream and did you have that reaction and what are you doing about it?

And two, I use Living Libations oil on my face. I've been talking about that for all 10 seasons. It's liquid gold. But I don't want to use it all the time.

Every single day, every hour of the day, because it's not practical and I'll run out of it too fast. So you know what I did? I bought Cetaphil. I don't know if that's just in the U.S. i don't think it's just in the U.S. but Cetaphil face cream.

I literally bought a tub the size of a small car at Costco and it's also available on Amazon for really cheap.

But Cetaphil has been recommended over and over and over again by dermatologists for like a good what can I get at the big box store brand that's not disgusting for me and I've never bought Cetaphil in my life.

And so I bought this big tub, like I said, the size of a small reasonable car and I am slathering that stuff on when I have monster face and it's so good. So yeah. Anyway, that's my skin update. Are you using Estriol face cream? I think it works.

I'll give you an Update after about 6 months and if you're peeling, what did you do about it? Did it go away? And finally, Cetaphil for the win, man. Like $10 for a coupe size canister. I'll take it. Okay.

I also want to share things like what I'm watching and things I'm trying or what I'm eating. Like, I want to share all this stuff with you guys in a way that doesn't make it in a way that's different than what I share on the air.

So I hope that you like your first edition of the audio newsletter. And I'm sorry because I ran slightly over on this one. I haven't even covered half the things I wanted to talk to you about.

But I'll only know if you want more if you tell me. And I did need to tell you kind of how it worked. So that's what this is. Your backstage pass to all things. I hope you'll subscribe to my email list.

There are several ways to do that on the website and I'm just laughing because I can't get the sisterhood sound bite out of my head. Go to on air ella.com or just open the show notes. There is a link in this one for you and if you got this in your email inbox, guess what?

You're subscribed. Oh P.S. one more thing about Friday Minisodes. I'm getting so much feedback from you guys that you like the minisodes but it's too much.

Like two shows a week or like one and a half shows a week is too much and it's making you feel overwhelmed. So I am still going to release minisodes. You can consider this one. This week's minisode. I'm still releasing minisodes.

I'm just not going to release them every single Friday. So I'll drop those in your feed several times a month, but it won't be every single Friday. I listen.

So if you have feedback, go on and share it with me.

I am really trying to build something that works for you, doesn't overwhelm you, but delivers practical tips and strategies for you that actually help you. All right, that's it for now. There's so much more. I don't even want to stop talking, but I will. Okay, love you. Bye.
